Introduction to the module
Civic education gives citizens the knowledge and skills they need to be active in their community and democracy. This module’s goal is to make sure that the ones who complete it understand their rights and responsibilities and can take part in making decisions.It teaches about important values and how everyone, including disadvantaged groups, and especially Roma, can be part of society. It's meant to encourage people to get involved and make a difference in how things are run.
Learning goals of the module
After completing this module, the learner will be able to:
-understand the key principles of citizenship and democracy
-identify the most important rights and responsibilities connected to citizenship
-become familiar with some of the main societal issues in relation to human dignity, equality, equity and environmental justice
-understand the historical background and importance of human rights protection
-understand how social and environmental injustices affect disadvantaged groups, such as the Roma
-understand the importance of civic initiatives and advocacy in bringing about change
